The study “From Inactivity to Productivity: The Economic Impact of Women’s Integration into the Labour Market” examines how greater participation of women in the workforce can strengthen Ukraine’s economy.
📊 Key findings:
🔹 73% of economically inactive women want to find a job—equivalent to approximately 3.5 million potential workers.
🔹 According to the researchers’ estimates, greater participation of these women in the labour market could increase Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) between 1.4% and 8% over the next several years.
The study shows that the challenge is not a lack of motivation. Instead, women face structural barriers, including limited childcare and care infrastructure, insufficiently flexible working arrangements, transportation challenges, limited opportunities for reskilling, and additional obstacles faced by vulnerable groups.
Removing these barriers is an investment not only in women’s well-being but also in the resilience of Ukraine’s economy. Ukraine’s recovery depends not only on financial resources, but also on making full use of its human capital.
