The Ukrainian Women’s Fund in partnership with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) has been engaged in gender monitoring of the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine that took place on July 21, 2019.
The objective of monitoring was to provide a comprehensive gender analysis of the election process in order to identify opportunities and barriers for women participating in elections and their being elected as members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Election funds of candidates in single mandate constituencies were also analyzed based on the data provided in the candidates’ financial reports. The monitoring also included meetings with representatives of political parties, in-depth interviews with representatives of management bodies of political parties as well as women candidates and potential candidates.
The final monitoring report was presented at a multiparty forum “Equality in Politics” which took place on 22 April 2020.
